At an early age, Danielle Younge-Ullman started hiding books under her
pillow at night and reading by the light filtering in from the hallway while her parents believed her asleep. She neglected homework, went to
school sandy-eyed and had many books confiscated but she could not stop
reading. Danielle had found her passion, solace and inspiration in the
written word.
Danielle somehow made through school and eventually attained a BA in
English from McGill University. By this time, in addition to her
fiction addiction, Danielle had also developed an addiction to the theatre.
After a few colorful and character-building years as a professional
actor in Toronto, Danielle finally realized she wanted to write. Since
then she has completed two novels and three plays. Her one-act play, 7
Acts of Intercourse, debuted at Toronto’s SummerWorks Festival in 2005
and her debut novel, Falling Under, will be published by Plume/Penguin
in late July, 2008.
Danielle lives in Toronto with her husband, daughter and their dog.
Whenever she is not feeding, chasing after and/or entertaining the
little beings or blogging at www.thedebutanteball.com, she is at work
on her next novel.
